d BEST hairCut
15th January 2009 - Today i'm extremely proud of little Jayden. CNY is coming, and ahDen's hair was pretty long so he must have a haircut before CNY. Tis was his 4th time having a haircut, and for all the previous experiences, they were all terrible. Everytime we brought him to Jenne's saloon back in Kuching, he'd be wailing and screaming as if the haircut hurt him. Sigh! And it owest ended up, his haircut was uneven.
Today, daddy said he wanted to go for his haircut. Daddy keep on telling me tat it is juz an ordinary barber shop, the old-fashioned type and not the saloon type. It was okie wid me, as long as ahDen doesn't cry during his haircut. When we entered the barber shop, i told hubby to haf his haircut first and let ahDen look at him having his haircut. I carried ahDen in my arms and keep on telling him, "U see, daddy didn't cry when he has his haircut, so ahDen oso cannot cry, okie."
Thankfully the small barber shop was decorated wid big pineapples deco and fake firecrackers made from red packets. All these red & yellow decos attracted ahDen as well. And the best was the aquarium of fishes. Although the water badly needed a change, ahDen was amazed seeing all the fishes swimming around.
When it was ahDen's turn, he sat in hubby's lap. I wrapped him up in my own piece of cloth tat i brought along & gave him a packet of biscuit. Honestly i brought along alot of stuff, a set of clean clothes, powder, snacks... normally he'll be covered wid hair after his haircut, so i was thinking he might need to change his clothes later.
While the barber was cutting his hair, i tried my best to distract him... acting like a clown, turning the pineapple round & round, and jingling the firecrackers! I even sang nursery rhymes to distract him, sprinkling water on his hands... i don't mind being silly, as long as my baby doesn't cry. Thankfully ahDen didn't cry, though he did tried to avoid the ticklish shaver a few times.
It was the BEST HAIRCUT he ever had. He looked so handsome, with neat & short hair. Both daddy & mummy were so proud of Jayden. He didn't make a big fuss over his haircut, and it was really the BEST, BEST, BEST-EST haircut session for all of us! Phew! Really heaved a big sigh of relief... now both daddy & son looked extremely handsome, getting ready for CNY! ;)) "
UltraMan!?!?
13th January 2009 - As usual on this Tuesday evening i was bathing ahDen. He was playing in the big bathtub, and i'm proud to say since 18thDec08, i had been using the shower to bathe him and i needn't used the old 'scoop & pour' method anymore. ('Scoop' by scooping up the water and 'pour' by pouring the water over his little body). We figured out tat he's old enuf to use a shower to bathe him, and if we happened to travel elsewhere, it'll be easier for Jayden to take his bath using the shower. Else, we'll need to find a place tat provides bucket so tat the baby can take his bath... which is really quite troublesome.
Around 5.40pm, ahDen's daddy came back from work. We heard the door opened and closed, and i continued shampoo-ing Den Den's hair and body. When he was all full wid suds and bubbles, the daddy came into the bathroom. Seeing ahDen's hair full of foam, daddy suddenly had a nasty idea. Daddy clasped both his hands together, holding Den's hair in the midst of his palms, and started pulling them upwards!
Den's hair was quite long then, and it started standing up with the foam holding it in place. The naughty daddy juz kept on laughing and laughing at his poor son, and ahDen juz stared at his daddy, laughing too to entertain his daddy. He must be wondering why daddy was so happy to see him in tat state then... After tat, daddy said he must snapped ahDen's photo.
It was pretty funny too, seeing tis new hairstyle on ahDen. Haha... okie... i may be mean, but i find it rather cute and hoping to share wid all ahDen's aunties, i had to post it here. I kinda think he looks like ultraman, except tat he doesn't haf the egg-shell eyes on him and he was naked! Don't worry, both the parents oledi make sure private part not seen at all in the photos posted. "

Welcome 2009!
When he woke up from his afternoon nap, he felt extremely hot. I measured his temperature and it was nearing 38 celcius. Perhaps he juz woke up so he felt warmer than usual, but just to be on the safe side, i gaf him his Paracetamol syrup anyway. He was different from his usual self, lying on the bed as he watches tv and being extremely quiet. It wasn't like the naughty ah Den mummy knew at all. Normally he'll be toddling about, pulling out everything and throwing them on the floor, but today he can be labeled as a good boy. Hmm... something is definately not right.
Tat evening, hubby & I decided to eat in. Knowing ah Den wasn't feeling well, so we let him had plain porridge and during dinner time, he was being super fussy and he seems to be really tired. So we came upstairs at 7pm, cleaned him up and let him changed into his pyjamas. Then we gave him his Paracetamol syrup again and after tat we juz let him watched his favourite nursery rhymes. It was 7.30pm tat time and he was still watching, while lying on the bed. Hubby was on the fon then and i was as usual surfing the web. When i turned around to check on ahDen, he'd fallen asleep. His first record of ever falling asleep while watching tv, and his first record of going to bed so early. It wasn't even 8pm yet, but assuming he wasn't feeling well, hubby & I juz let him sleep.
Tat nite, he couldn't sleep well. We let him sleep in the sarong when he cried somewhere around 10pm to continue his sleep. At 1am he was crying for his milk as usual, and i tot of giving him his medicine before letting him continue his sleep. I carried him out of his sarong, and he wetted part of his pyjamas. So i changed his diaper and his pyjamas, and tat time he was really feverish. He called out to me when he saw me, in a high and weak voice.... saying "Ma!". It was really weird for normally he'll cry if he wakes up in the middle of the nite, asking for milk and after his milk, he'll get back to sleep. Tonite he seems so awake and yet with this blurry expression. Also he was pointing to his socks tat time. Okie... maybe he felt weird why he was wearing socks, cox we put his socks on when he was asleep earlier and normally we don't let him wear socks to bed. It was an exception tat nite cox his feet were terribly cold. Then i gaf him his medicine and wiped his body using a wet cloth to bring down his temperature. "Poor baby being so sick on new year eve"... i was thinking in my mind. Luckily he was still able to go back to sleep after being awake for sometime, but he was tossing and turning around on our bed. Sigh!
The next day, new year eve, hubby said must bring him to go see doc cox the following day will be a public holiday. Tat time around 10am when hubby came back after settling some stuff, he was so surprised to see ah Den with both eyes swollen. His eyes were practically half of their usual size, and he was still watching his nursery rhyme. Tat seems to be the only thing tat soothed him, so i juz let him watch rather than having him fussing around for no reason at all. So we brought him to the clinic and tat time he had a temperature of 38.9 celcius, considering a high fever. The paediatrician immediately inserted Paracetamol 250mg - better known as Arfen - into ahDen's anus, and then she taught me how to monitor his temperature and wat medicine to gif in case his temperature doesn't reduce.
(Juz for additional info, an hour after Paracetamol - either Arfen or Dhamol, to measure his temp. Dhamol is the liquid Paracetamol which is to be consumed orally, where as Arfen is to be inserted into the anus. If his temp still high, over 39.0 celcius, then i shud use Voren, another stronger Paracetamol, and oso by insertion into the anus. Besides tat if bb was having high fever, immediately use Voren and can forget about Arfen or Dhamol. Phew.... the paediatrician still tested me to see if i rem correctly)
Tat evening we still went out for dinner at Daniel's house. Daniel & Meiching had purposely prepared dinner for us, so we decided to go for a short while and ahDen seems to be okie but once the effect of the medicine was over, his fever immediately return. Tat's how we celebrated new year eve, wid a sick bb and tat had been for 2years now in a row, cox i suddenly remembered tat on 2007 new year eve, we oso brought ahDen to the clinic and tat time he had to used a nebulizer to open up his passageway and help him breathe properly. Sigh!
Jayden's fever lasted til 2nd, so tat was about 3days of high fever. Strangely just after his fever breaks, his whole body was covered wid red spots. I remembered myself having this condition before, when i was studying in F6, so i know tat it's harmless but juz to play safe, we brought him to the paediatrician again on the following day, 3rd of Jan. The doc told us tat it's a condition known as roseola infantum (rose rash) and normally happened to young children. It looked like measles, and they called it fake measles. Sounds funny why i still haf it when i was almost 20yrs old! No medication needed, and the spots will start to fade after 3days when it first appeared.
Tat was how it really turned out to be, and during this period ahDen was sick, he was really being very, very fussy and very irritable. Everything displeases him, and he was very short-tempered and even at times asking for the impossibles. Sigh! What to do... i haf to be patient and though i'm pretty frustrated as well, i haf to try my best to not take my temper out on the sick child. Til today, he's still being pretty fussy. Luckily his rash had gone though not completely yet but can see tat it's fading. Jayden definately is feeling better and the room starts being super messy again. "

Short Trip to Labuan & Kundasang
29-30th November 2008 - On tis Saturday morning, we headed off for Labuan. Jayden's first time there, and mine too... and together wid ahDen's granduncle & grandaunt whole family. Honestly, ahDen was quite a good boy all thru the trip. At first i feared he couldn't stand sitting in the car for so long and after tat the ferry trip to Labuan somemore, but he gaved a pretty impressing progress tis time, so next time can consider going elsewhere liao. Hee hee....
2hrs drive from Tanjung Aru, KotaKinabalu to the Menumbok Jetty, then another 2hrs ferry trip to Labuan. Really tiring but luckily in the very packed ferry, we bought seats in the VIP Lounge and before tat although we had to squeeze in the car but we traveled in hubby's Ninja King, so honestly Jayden had quite a comfortable ride. We stayed in Hotel Pantai View in Labuan, and thanks to Uncle NgeeBang for helping us to book rooms beforehand, else we might ended up sleeping on the streets. We went to the Marine Museum in Labuan, and Jayden was amused wid all the fishes. He was pointing to all the colourful fishes swimming around and making his usual "uuu... uu... uuuu..." sound. Tat was during the speed visiting we had on the following day, Sunday, before we needed to board the ferry back to Menumbok. We went to the War Memorial too, and also another place called The Chimney Peace Park. Dunno wat's so attractive there really, juz a tall chimney standing there.
Some photos of ahDen during the Labuan trip :-
1st-2nd December 2008 - Monday noon, 2.30pm, after lunch we made our way up the path to Mt. Kinabalu. My first time overnite there and of cuz, Jayden's too. I owest worried if it'll be too cold for him up there so we never bring him overnite there until now, when we assume he's old enuf. We made room reservation at Ko-Perkasa Hotel, and when we reached there we only realised they'd changed their name to Mount Kinabalu Heritage. It was a nice place, way up a steep hill at Kundasang. We asked for connecting chalets, for my uncle and his family and us.
After we checked in, we walked around taking photos of the beautiful scenery. After tat, we drove down to the Kundasang market where fresh veggies and fruits are abundant for sale. I bought some mangosteens and 'langsat'... The weather was chilly and really nice. I helped ahDen put on his jacket and he seems to be enjoying himself very much at this new place. When we reached our chalets after dinner, it was oledi 7pm. I started to worry cox it was getting dark and cold and ahDen had not taken his bath for the whole day yet. No matter wat, must gif him his bath cox i feared he might feel heaty.
So we switched on the water heater, needing 20minutes at least for the water to be heated, then in the bathroom Jayden went wid mummy & daddy following behind. We tried to bathe him as fast as possible, using the shower there. Luckily he wasn't terrified to bathe using the shower cox til now i still bathe him using the scoop and pour method, where i'll pour water over his body using a small mug. Then ahDen's granduncle suddenly opened the bathroom door and snapped photos of ahDen bathing! =))
Tat nite, ahDen slept really soundly. Partly bcox he was tired and the air there felt so refreshing and chilly, like natural air-cond. It drizzled tat nite and the next morning when everyone was awake, little Jayden still slept so soundly like a little piglet. ;)) Must be really tiring. After we checked out, we went to Ranau for breakfast and then made our way to Poring Hot Spring. Little Jayden had so much fun at the hot spring, even went naked into the big bath tub and peed there! Haha.... really a nice experience for him. Around noon time we made our way back to KotaKinabalu, stopping at Tuaran around 2.30pm for our lunch. Although tired, Jayden really enjoyed the company he got from uncle KingChing and his family.

dancing ahDen
Jayden's mummy :- " My little baby loves to dance. He'll moves his butt, shake his head, and wave his arms when he hears a tune he likes. Actually we started noticing him being attracted to music when he was pretty young, a few months old, but the dancing part... haha... i never knew he loves dancing juz like me.
The song he loves most, tat makes him shakes his butt and lately he started to improve his dancing skills by adding the 'finger-pointing' part, is the famous Leona Lewis - Bleeding Love. His daddy bought tis song when ahDen was about 3mths old, and we have the CD playing in the car most of the time so he became quite familiar wid tis song.
On another occasion, i was driving ahDen n 2 of my sisters to my eldest sis's house in 8thMile, back in Kuching. Tat time ahDen was sitting in his car seat, looking drowsy. Then my sister PeiFang, started to sing Bleeding Love. Haha.... tis is one of the usual sister-thing we'll do, we juz sing out loud together, if dunno the lyrics part we juz hum along. Then slowly ahDen raised his hands and started waving them in a slow motion. He looked drowsy, but still he enjoyed our singing. Haha... then my youngest sis, Grace saw ahDen moving his hands and asked me wat is Den doing. I told her, he's dancing. Tat really amused them. Later he even started clapping his hands!
Okie... i know for sure my darling frens will say tat it's inheritence. I finally got to record tis clip successfully. On tis afternoon, ahDen juz woke up from his afternoon nap, and i was playing the song Bleeding Love on my laptop. And there goes ahDen starting to dance. It's really, really funny!"

mani & pedi...cure!
18th November 2008 - All this while i never cut ahDen's fingernails & toenails for him before. I daren't do so, assuming i haf really slow reflex. So normally, tis is ahDen daddy's job. Even my mum and my sister, ahMing had helped to cut ahDen's nails before, for they couldn't stand to see it being so long, and yet i didn't cut it for him. Okie.... honestly i really wanted to do so, but i'm really very scared, afraid tat i'll be too clumsy and hurt him instead.
Today i finally helped him to cut his fingernails and toenails for the very first time! Hahaha..... not such a great mum right! ;)) Yes, i really haf to confess, my reflex can be real slow at time, and now tat ahDen is a bigger boy, i can gif him toys tat amused him while i held on really tight at his tiny fingers and start clipping away! Phew! First time and ahDen is oledi past 1year old... thankfully i didn't hurt my baby at all and did quite a nice job ;)) "
