Welcome 2009!

Jayden's mummy :- "Time certainly flies and it's another new year. Christmas 2008 is over now, and tat mean Jayden had been in Kota Kinabalu for a year now. On 30th, the day before new year eve, Jayden suddenly developed fever. It was during noon time tat i felt him being really warm, and i wondered if he was having a fever. I juz kept in mind to monitor him closely and sis told me tat a temperature above 37.5 celcius indicates a fever. I had tot of attending yoga class tat evening, but i changed my mind instead. To me, monitoring my bb means so much more than anything else.

When he woke up from his afternoon nap, he felt extremely hot. I measured his temperature and it was nearing 38 celcius. Perhaps he juz woke up so he felt warmer than usual, but just to be on the safe side, i gaf him his Paracetamol syrup anyway. He was different from his usual self, lying on the bed as he watches tv and being extremely quiet. It wasn't like the naughty ah Den mummy knew at all. Normally he'll be toddling about, pulling out everything and throwing them on the floor, but today he can be labeled as a good boy. Hmm... something is definately not right.

Tat evening, hubby & I decided to eat in. Knowing ah Den wasn't feeling well, so we let him had plain porridge and during dinner time, he was being super fussy and he seems to be really tired. So we came upstairs at 7pm, cleaned him up and let him changed into his pyjamas. Then we gave him his Paracetamol syrup again and after tat we juz let him watched his favourite nursery rhymes. It was 7.30pm tat time and he was still watching, while lying on the bed. Hubby was on the fon then and i was as usual surfing the web. When i turned around to check on ahDen, he'd fallen asleep. His first record of ever falling asleep while watching tv, and his first record of going to bed so early. It wasn't even 8pm yet, but assuming he wasn't feeling well, hubby & I juz let him sleep.

Tat nite, he couldn't sleep well. We let him sleep in the sarong when he cried somewhere around 10pm to continue his sleep. At 1am he was crying for his milk as usual, and i tot of giving him his medicine before letting him continue his sleep. I carried him out of his sarong, and he wetted part of his pyjamas. So i changed his diaper and his pyjamas, and tat time he was really feverish. He called out to me when he saw me, in a high and weak voice.... saying "Ma!". It was really weird for normally he'll cry if he wakes up in the middle of the nite, asking for milk and after his milk, he'll get back to sleep. Tonite he seems so awake and yet with this blurry expression. Also he was pointing to his socks tat time. Okie... maybe he felt weird why he was wearing socks, cox we put his socks on when he was asleep earlier and normally we don't let him wear socks to bed. It was an exception tat nite cox his feet were terribly cold. Then i gaf him his medicine and wiped his body using a wet cloth to bring down his temperature. "Poor baby being so sick on new year eve"... i was thinking in my mind. Luckily he was still able to go back to sleep after being awake for sometime, but he was tossing and turning around on our bed. Sigh!

The next day, new year eve, hubby said must bring him to go see doc cox the following day will be a public holiday. Tat time around 10am when hubby came back after settling some stuff, he was so surprised to see ah Den with both eyes swollen. His eyes were practically half of their usual size, and he was still watching his nursery rhyme. Tat seems to be the only thing tat soothed him, so i juz let him watch rather than having him fussing around for no reason at all. So we brought him to the clinic and tat time he had a temperature of 38.9 celcius, considering a high fever. The paediatrician immediately inserted Paracetamol 250mg - better known as Arfen - into ahDen's anus, and then she taught me how to monitor his temperature and wat medicine to gif in case his temperature doesn't reduce.

(Juz for additional info, an hour after Paracetamol - either Arfen or Dhamol, to measure his temp. Dhamol is the liquid Paracetamol which is to be consumed orally, where as Arfen is to be inserted into the anus. If his temp still high, over 39.0 celcius, then i shud use Voren, another stronger Paracetamol, and oso by insertion into the anus. Besides tat if bb was having high fever, immediately use Voren and can forget about Arfen or Dhamol. Phew.... the paediatrician still tested me to see if i rem correctly)

Tat evening we still went out for dinner at Daniel's house. Daniel & Meiching had purposely prepared dinner for us, so we decided to go for a short while and ahDen seems to be okie but once the effect of the medicine was over, his fever immediately return. Tat's how we celebrated new year eve, wid a sick bb and tat had been for 2years now in a row, cox i suddenly remembered tat on 2007 new year eve, we oso brought ahDen to the clinic and tat time he had to used a nebulizer to open up his passageway and help him breathe properly. Sigh!

Jayden's fever lasted til 2nd, so tat was about 3days of high fever. Strangely just after his fever breaks, his whole body was covered wid red spots. I remembered myself having this condition before, when i was studying in F6, so i know tat it's harmless but juz to play safe, we brought him to the paediatrician again on the following day, 3rd of Jan. The doc told us tat it's a condition known as roseola infantum (rose rash) and normally happened to young children. It looked like measles, and they called it fake measles. Sounds funny why i still haf it when i was almost 20yrs old! No medication needed, and the spots will start to fade after 3days when it first appeared.

Tat was how it really turned out to be, and during this period ahDen was sick, he was really being very, very fussy and very irritable. Everything displeases him, and he was very short-tempered and even at times asking for the impossibles. Sigh! What to do... i haf to be patient and though i'm pretty frustrated as well, i haf to try my best to not take my temper out on the sick child. Til today, he's still being pretty fussy. Luckily his rash had gone though not completely yet but can see tat it's fading. Jayden definately is feeling better and the room starts being super messy again. "
