new toys!

Mummy & daddy brought me to Signature, Karamunsing last Sunday. We went there to look for baby walker for Uncle Pau's baby Nathan actually. Ended up mummy & daddy didn't see any preferable walker for the new baby, but instead they bought me some toys.

Mummy told daddy before tat she'd been searching for some animal toys for me, cox she wanna me to learn the words for these animals. The store was full of so many wonderful toys. I was so excited to see all those toys, especially those tat can make wonderful sound and music. My little hands were so busy too, as i kept on touching everything tat was within my reach.

Finally daddy found some animal toys. It was a pack of 6 cute rubber animals, but mummy said 'no' cox the animals doesn't look real enuf. They were more like bath toys, like my rubber duckie type. Then off mummy went to look at some stacking cups for me. She said i'd been learning to stack things up lately, and she wanted to buy me some toys which i can stack. (Ahem... it started during CNY when i was busy stacking up Tupperwares at ppl's house whenever i go visiting!)

Tis time daddy showed mummy a pack of farm animals and finally mummy nodded her head saying "Yes! I can haf tat pack of toys for they seem real enuf!". Hooray.... I was so happy and immediately i held on to my pack of toy animals tightly, else mummy changes her mind... hehe.... As for the stacking cups, mummy was comparing between the one wid 5cups or 7cups; as one was priced at RM13.90 and the other RM17.90. In the end she chose the one wid 7cups for me, so tat i can stack higher she said. My pack of farm animals costs RM11.90. I was so happy tat i haf so many new toys tat nite.

The following day, mum recycled one of my Anmum milk powder box into a 'home' for the animals. ;)) She doesn't want me to start throwing all the animals around. She even made some word cards for me, writing down the wording for each and every animal... Cow, Sheep, Horse, Goat, Donkey & Bull. Wow... i hope i can recognise all these words for each animal one day, hmm... i wonder when... :))

Jayden's mummy :- "
21st February 2009 - Two nights ago, as i was cleaning Jayden preparing him to go to bed, he did something really funny. As usual, the bedtime cleaning-up routine will be cleaning his face with a piece of wet warm cloth, then his hands and body, followed by his legs and feet. After I wiped him dry, I'll lay him down on my bed then wipe his butt wid a piece of baby wipe, then change him into his MamyPoko diaper. Not forgetting too to rub some oil on his tummy in order to prevent 'wind'. After powdering him, I'll change him into a clean set of pyjamas.

Okie... tat nite i noticed some rashes on his butt. So i tot i better start applying some baby lotion on his butt to prevent the rashes from getting worse. After i applied the lotion on his butt, i gave the bottel of baby lotion to him so tat he'll play wid it and keep still for a moment, while i put on his diaper for him.

Then he did this funny action. He tilted the bottle of baby lotion over, and pretended as if he is pouring some lotion onto his fingers and hand. Tat's not the funniest part yet, cox lately i did noticed him trying to pour things out from any bottles he sees. As i glanced at him further, he started to rub his cheek with his finger as if he was applying lotion to his face! Then he tilted the bottle over again, pretending to pour out more lotion then rub it on his other cheek! I bursted out in laughters..... "apalah tis baby, since when i teach him to apply lotion to his face?!?!?! Where did he learn tat from??"

I really haf no idea where he pick up tis gesture from.... wait a minute, oh yes.... now i remember, i did apply cream on his face before to treat his eczema problem. Sometimes when his immune system is low, he'll start to haf red rashes over his face. Maybe tat's where he learned to do tat. I am still thinking if he's mimicking me cox i put on my skincare daily, and he might caught me doing it sometimes. Really funny seeing him doing some weird gestures from time to time. This really mean my boy is growing up, and he's starting to understand more & more. Getting naughtier with each growing day!"

new discoveries!

Jayden's mummy :- "
5th February 2009 - I have this practice of writing a certain word on a small whiteboard which i purposely bought for Jayden. At times i'd changed the word, and if i'm not being lazy, i'll take a moment to teach him the word i wrote on the board. Two days ago, amazingly Jayden pointed to the word 'mouth' which i wrote on the board weeks ago, and said aloud "mouth". It took me a moment to realise tat he was actually reading the word on the board. He was looking at the board, and wid his right hand he swayed it in a motion from right to left then saying "mouth". He even pointed to his own mouth to show me tat's his mouth.

I was laughing out loud when i finally realised tat he is starting to read. The only thing he didn't do quite accurately was his motion of swaying his hand, for it shud actually be from left to right, and he was doing it the other way round. But it was already good enuf for me. I started Jayden on Dr. Titzer's Your Baby Can Read videoCDs when he was 9months old, to be precise i started it on 26th June 2008. I read about this program from a parent magazine, and figured out better than juz letting him watch cartoons on the tv, i rather if he watch this sort of educational program. I started searching everywhere for these CDs, even asking KC to help me search for it in Spore and also Hiewming to help me search in KL. In the end i found the CDs at Poppies The Spring back in Kuching.

I did noticed Jayden being able to recognize some simple words like 'clap', 'dog', 'cat' and a few times i heard him said 'duck' and also 'ball' when these words appeared on the tv screen. But whenever this happened, i owest wonder if it was juz merely a coincidence. And at times he did simply point to any parts of his body incorrectly though... juz mimicking the children in the tv i guess. =))

After the incident of him reading the word "mouth" from the board, i changed the word "mouth" to "yes". He did nod his head when i say tat's the word 'yes'. He responded too by nodding his head whenever he sees the word "yes" there. I think i'll juz let the word "yes" there for a few more days, and after tat sees if he still recognise the word "mouth" if i put it back there.

Another funny thing he started doing yesterday was learning to walk backwards. Hubby told me tat Jayden was learning to walk backwards when i got back from class last nite. I find it pretty funny for i wasn't sure if tat is suppose to be counted as a particular gross skill, and juz tis afternoon i saw ahDen really walking backwards by himself. He was practically juz playing around and giggling to himself as he was doing so and it was pretty cute. Too bad i didn't haf my camera here, else i'll start to video it.

Tis time back to Kuching for CNY, we all saw how much ahDen learned from his cousin sisters & brothers. It's really true tat children pick up the fastest around other kids. He'll try to mimic his elder brothers & sisters, and he had learnt to tap his mouth while making the sound "waaa..", like a little red Indian, in less than 5minutes once he saw his cousins doing so!

When we went to Aiwei's house tis year, ahDen oso took the initiative to shake hands wid MingZhe when i told him to. But apart from the being sociable part, i haf to really make sure tat he doesn't start bullying MingZhe for ahDen can be quite rough at times. Perhaps he really doesn't intended to be so, as for his age now, he still doesn't understand tat he'll hurt others if he's being too rough. Somemore ahDen is so big-sized and oso he's very impatient. Sigh! So mummy still haf lots to teach him and really must train his patience. Most important of all is to teach him to be gentle towards other kids, and oso learning to share and to take care of others especially those younger ones. Wah.... sounds like such a BIG BIG TASK for Jayden but it is really time to start training him and i hope God will bless me with the wisdom and patience to do so. Amen. "
