Pedal pedal!

3 weeks of practicing and finally Jayden can pedal on his own. He learned tat once he started pushing the bicycle forward a little, it'll be easier for him to start pedalling then. Since he is strong enough, it wasn't tat difficult for him to master the pedalling skill i guess!

BIG achievement!

Jayden's mummy :- "I forgot to mention in my last two posts about one of the greatest skills my son had accomplished during his holiday in Kuching this time. I was deeply amazed and felt really proud of him. He finally wanted to use the toilet bowl to pass motion wilingly. It happened on 25th June, a Friday afternoon after he woke up from his afternoon nap. As usual, we were having tea in the kitchen and all of a sudden he told me that he wanted to 'ng-ng' (baby language for wanting to poop!).

So i got ready to bring him upstairs to the bathroom in our room because the potty was there. But he showed signs of hesitating, as if not wanting to go upstairs. Then i asked him again if he wanna pass motion and his answer was definate, so i told him if he wanna poop, we'll have to go upstairs so tat he can use the potty. As if not hearing what i told him, he went to the bathroom downstairs. Then he pointed to the toilet bowl, indicating tat he wanna poop using the toilet bowl. I didn't put any high hopes at first, because my son has a tendency to ask for certain things and when he can have it his way, he'll then resist it!

When i carried him to sit on the toilet bowl, he showed less sign of fear. Perhaps the toilet bowl was lower or nearer to the floor, so he felt more secure. I held on to him all the same, and asked him to try if he can manage to poop. I didn't push or nag at him. Instead i juz squatted down on the floor while holding onto him, and waited patiently. Finally I heard the 'plop' sound! I was amazed and praised Jayden for making a big achievement. The 'plop' sound seemed to attract him as well! He was beaming... proud of himself as well. Immediately i sent an sms to hubby telling him our boy had really grown up. Even daddy felt so happy to hear that.

Since that day, i tried my best to let him use the toilet bowl whenever he had to poop. This will make things easier especially when we are away from home. Even his phobia of pooping seems to be past-tense finally.

I juz wanna tell all the other parents out there that milestones are really different in each and every child. It's useless to force and push your child into accomplishing a task which he or she isn't ready to face yet. I remembered the times when i had to undergo so much pain and stress everytime my child was constipated. Hopefully this will be a meaningful lesson to me, that i have to be less demanding in future."

new Bike!

ahDen really loves his new bike. You can see how happily he smiles while riding it, and he purposely pose for me to take photos of him with his new bike!

Hahaha... these are additional photos to show his cheekiness. I was using my laptop and he kept calling to me while standing beside me. When i turned around to look at him, i burst out laughing at this silly boy. He took the pot i used to cover his plate of unfinished chocolate cookies which he had for breakfast, and wear it like a hat! You can still see how dirty his mouth was from eating the chocolate cookies!

June 2010 Trip Back to KCH!

Jayden's mummy :- "On 23rd June 2010, i brought Jayden back to Kuching by Airasia all by myself. I must be a very lucky woman for every trip on the plane with Jayden, i'll sure to be accompanied by hubby. I finally told myself that Jayden is really a big boy now (nearing 3 years old) and I must learn to be more independent too. So, we flew back to Kuching by ourselves in order to attend baby Jairo's 'mua guek' (full month) party and to help around.

Before that day, we had tried to brainwash ahDen. Whenever we asked him if he wants to go back to Kuching, he'll answer with a definite "NO!". He really loves his 'happy house' so much now, and the idea of leaving it kind of make him feel uncomfortable. Even when i told him tat mummy will be in Kuching and if he wants to come along, still the answer was a definite "NO!". That morning when he woke up, again daddy asked him and he started to cry while answering with a "No! No! No! No!". I told hubby to quit asking him first, for he juz woke up and since it was around 5+am, his mood must be terrible. Wait until we reach the airport, then we can start to brainwash him again.

Thank God when we reached the airport, he started to be excited. It must had been quite sometime since he last flew. He couldn't wait for me to finish scanning our luggage, and he was desperate in the queue. After we checked in, we still had some time so daddy was busy chasing ahDen while i took my rest first. He told me i'll need my energy for later! =)) Daddy bought ahDen a small toy train with jellybeans inside, and told him he had to be a good boy on board. Ohh... so tis is daddy's trick to brainwash ahDen, or should i say daddy's bribe! That morning on the plane, we had sandwiches for our breakfast. Overall he was a good boy on the plane. He even told me he had to pee, so i brought him to the lavatory. When we landed at Kuching airport, he started to get excited. I had to keep on reminding him to wait for mummy when we were at the immigration counter and while waiting for our luggage at the conveyors.

We had lots of fun at Kuching this time, although it was partly fun because i have my mum, sis & frens helping me to babysit everytime i went out. Without their help, i'll be terribly exhausted. My son juz has too much energy most of the time!

I bought him this Foogo water bottle from Parkson, The Spring. I'd tried searching for it in KK but it must have sold out since i couldn't find any. I saw my fren using this bottle for her son, and she told me that you can store warm water for longer period of time. Since Jayden is always having running nose & cough, i thought i might as well get one for him. The price was RM80 before the 20% discount. After hesitating for quite awhile due to it being quite pricy, i finally bought it for him since i had been hunting for it from KK until Kuching. Hope it'll be useful!

We flew back to KK on 30th June, using the 1155 flight. Luckily mum and ahNi ee-ee helped to look after Jayden while i queued to check in my luggage at the very packed counters. This time on the plane, ahDen was being even more cooperative. I bought him for some light snacks at the airport's McD before we departed. Thankfully i did, for he napped most of the time on plane tat day! He sat all by himself tat afternoon and even insisted to buckled his safety belt by himself.

While waiting for the plane to take off, he started to get weary and when the plane finally took off, he too had dozed off to sleep! He woke up slightly before the stewardess announced our arrival. He told me he wanna pee, so again i brought him to the lavatory. When we got back to our seats, the stewardess announced tat the lavatory could no longer be in use. Phew!!! I was greatly relieved.

Hubby bought ahDen a bicycle from Signature a few days ago. I told hubby to get the bicycle for him, since we'd made up our mind to get him a bicycle, it might as well be a surprise for him when he gets back home. When he saw the bicycle, he was happy. However, he didn't immediately play with it... maybe still being a little unfamiliar with its existence. After a while, he started to push it around. And during those few days when we brought him out, he'll ask to go back home to play with his bicycle! Ooo... the bicycle costs RM150 and we used part of his angpow money to get it for him. And the toy tiger is the bike's honk and there's a small white button on the side which you can press to play a cute song. I juz hope my son will treasure his new very costly toy! "

Mattress change!

Jayden's mummy :- "We bought this new super single mattress for ahDen after daddy came back from his China trip. The time 'nye-ma' (grandma) was here, she was complaining tat ahDen is way too long for his baby mattress now. We must get him a new one ASAP. So somewhere early June, we got tis mattress from Karamunsing for him. It costs us RM200 bcox this mattress has double function - one side was made of coconut husks, and the other side foam. So you can choose which side you wanna sleep on. In order to prevent ahDen from missing his old mattress, i decided to pick him a really cute bedsheet. This is the Akemi bedsheet i got for him. He loves car and transport so i thought a cute schoolbus will make him fall in love with his new sleeping tool. He loves his new mattress, and the first nite he slept on it, he was rolling on it!

Today, 10th July 2010, ahDen was 98.5cm tall. How fast my son is growing up. No wonder he badly needs a new mattress. =)) "

Pomelo Pranks!

Jayden's mummy :- "These photos were taken after our church service one Sunday morning. We bought a pomelo at a charity sell that morning. I love pomelos and Sabah's pomelos are really very sweet and juicy. AhDen doesn't really like to eat pomelo. He only loves to play with them. He'll throw and kick it like a ball if he can get his hands on one. I still remember the other time when mum came over to KK and bought some pomelos to bring back to Kuching, we had to hide them in the storeroom to prevent ahDen from finding them! Some cute shots i managed to get that Sunday morning..."

Jayden's mummy :- "It'd been months since i updated Jayden's blog. We are living in Graceville now, officially moved in on 31st March 2010. Jayden is really happy living here, obviously he has more space for himself now and more place to play with his toys. Once in awhile, we'll oso bring him swimming. After all, the idea of moving out of Room102 was to provide him with more space to enable him to grow up normally. He loves our new unit and he labeled it as 'Happy House'. It's so sweet to hear him saying 'house' or 'happy house' so often cox it obviously shows how comfortable my boy is living in a proper house now. Although at times i really feel he's bored cox he doesn't have any playmates other than me.

These are some photos hubby shot the nite before we move in to Graceville. He took out our luggage bag so tat we can pack some of our things inside it to bring over here. The very next minute, ahDen was so busy packing himself into it and asking us "Jayden le???"... then when we paid no attention to him, he'll popped himself out of the bag and say "neh...." (meaning here). Getting cheekier n cheekier!"

"Do Not Feed The ANIMALS!"

Jayden's mummy :- "This afternoon we went to Joseph's daughter full moon party at SuperTanker. In order to make ahDen sit down quietly at the table before the food was served, i gave him a packet of Mamee to eat. He sat there in his high chair happily chewing on his Mamee. Then i asked him to share some with Yumi & NaiChen. He reluctantly pinched a bit of the Mamee and handed it over to Yumi jie-jie while saying "Do Not Feed The ANIMALS!" Hahahaha... this one i really laughed out loud after hearing him saying tat.

The other guests at the table oso started laughing and their next question was "You brought him to the zoo often is it?".... Actually he got tat verse from watching Popcorn Panic - The Penguins of Madagascar cartoon. Bad ahDen... still need to practice sharing wid friends! "

KFC supper-Time!

Jayden's mummy :- "20th March 2010 : Last nite after a walk at Suria Sabah, we decided to buy one set of KFC Dinner Plate home for supper. Hubby had been working really hard lately, and food owest cheers him up! I always wonder why kids love KFC or McD, and even adults love them too!

Well, for ahDen he really is not the veggie-eater type, but for KFC coleslaw he can finish them all by himself! We purposely ordered one Original Recipe Drumstick for ahDen and the other 2 pieces of chicken were Hot & Spicy. Can really see how ahDen is enjoying his supper last nite. He must be wondering why we had such good supper tonite... hehe.... so i immediately took out the camera and snapped a few shots of him showing signs of fulfillment on his face!"

Cheeky-ness!

Jayden's mummy :- "This post is going to be about ahDen's mischief in pee-ing. Now tat he really masters his pee-ing skills, sometimes he juz finds so many different ways to amuse himself whenever he pee-pee. It does not only amuse him, it even made his parents laugh at wat he is doing, although we don't encourage it. Sometimes u juz find it hard to withhold your laughter at all his silly ideas of turning his pee session into fun.

Oh, by the way, we bought him a toilet stool so tat he can stand on it and pee straight into the toilet bowl. A church fren told me to get one if you are training a boy, so tat they'll know tat they are suppose to pee into the toilet bowl next time. Before tis, the toilet was scary to my boy but now, he's pretty use to it. The stool costs us RM25 but it was worth an investment.

Incident 1 :- He had learnt how to hold his urine and 'shooting' them out again into the toilet bowl/potty. So sometimes when he pees, he'll start to count how many time he can 'shoot' his urine into the toilet or his potty. He'll pee then stop and count "one", pee again then stop & count "two", and continuosly until all he finished urinating! Once he successfully count until "eleven" and when he's done, he'll end it with a "YEAH!" Hahaha... honestly, we didn't teach him this kind of trick!

Incident 2 :- Sometime during last week, he told his dad he wanted to pee during dinner time. Since his dad was lazy to bring him to the toilet, daddy juz brought him outside to pee by the roadside. So tis cheeky boy aimed his little birdie to the right side first and pee-ed... then he stop, and aim again to his left side and shoot! When he's done, he pointed and said "Wow.... heart shape!" at the pattern he created on the ground. Daddy looked down and couldn't help laughing cox it does kinda look like a heart shape! Can u imagine how cheeky he is?!?!

Incident 3 :- Okie, another funny incident is when ahDen pees, he'll imitate the sound of a motorcar, going 'vrooomm....' according to the speed he's peeing! Hahahaha...."

yummy GRAPES!

Jayden's mummy :- "Before i had kids, i owest tell myself tat i'll never peel grapes or even de-seed them for my children cox it juz spoils them. Hmm... but i'm doing it now, i peeled all those grapes and took out each and every seeds in it... WHY? the reason is because he wanted to eat those grapes, juz tat when he chews on the skin and if he can't swallow them, he'll spit everything out again, including the grapes and wasting his food. In the end, mummy had to peel them so tat Jayden can enjoy eating his grapes! And from the video u can see how obvious it is tat he IS enjoying them!"

snapshots update!

Jayden's mummy :- "Can definately see how obvious mummy is slacking in updating ahDen's blog, and even checking wat photos i have inside my camera! Before tis ahDen was ill, and after tat it was CNY and finally now i have some time to update wat i'd wanted to do for so long."
31st Jan 2010 - in Marudi granduncle KingChing's house! We were there for my cousin Teck Ong's wedding, so tat's where all those balloons came from!

1st Feb 2010 - Marudi airport, will board the Twin Otter plane to Miri for transit back to Kota Kinabalu!

7th Feb 2010 - We got a CNY hamper from ahDen's Uncle PangHee. ahDen was delighted... he juz wanted to open the hamper immediately. Didn't even have any mood to pose for pictures!

10th Feb 2010 - First time boarding airplane through KK's new Terminal 1. Yippee... we are going back Kuching to celebrate CNY!

Mamil Gold!

Jayden's mummy :- " On day3 of CNY (16th Feb 2010) after visiting aiwei's house, we came back with a can of free Mamex Gold milk powder. I'd been sharing wid aiwei how ahDen's constipation problem had really made me so stressed and pressured everyday... i'll be keeping count of when's the last time he poop-ed, and wondering everyday if I should give him the Duphalac (stool softener) or not! Aiwei had told me before maybe i should tried changing milk powder, but Mamil Gold is really not cheap. Juz incase i bought the whole can and ahDen doesn't want to drink it, then tat'll really be a waste.

Since then, honestly ahDen's poop problem really does seems to be better. Perhaps the Oligosaccharide in Mamil Gold really is working, or it could be because of the Bio-Life Probiotix which he had been taking since before CNY.... no matter what I juz hope they'll continue to help!
This can of 1.6kg of Mamil Gold really costs a lot more compare to Anmum Essential.... i forgot how much we bought it for, should be about RM80. For the same weight, Anmum Essential will have costs us around RM54. So currently ahDen is drinking Anmum Essential + Mamil Gold, since i still have 2 big cans of Anmum Essential. "

mastering the pee-pee skills!

Jayden's mummy :- "As a mum, I truly enjoy every moment with my son. Even though there are times when u get angry and frustrated; or sad and down with your child; eventually the pro will still even out the con!

Before this, i rem putting in my Windows Messenger that it was 'So hard training a child' and friends were like asking wat sort of training am i trying on my child!

I tried to toilet-train ahDen somewhere in the 3rd week of December. I really felt so suffocated that time. I was merely trying to teach him to pee into the potty, so he need not wear any diapers during daytime. I was totally pissed off and on the verge of giving up during the 3rd day of the training. I didn't scold him or beat him when he wetted his pants. What made me felt guilty was that he would rather juz stay inside the toilet when he realised he doesn't have his diaper on! He'd go naked from the waist down and juz wait inside the toilet, and i really felt i'm being so cruel to him. I kept on pondering "Is it time yet to toilet train him???" But this is a question that no one else will know the answer better than myself!

I really shed tears of anger and frustration during that few days, and thankfully hubby was ever so supportive and reasoning with me. The funny statement tat hubby made was (I really wan to share this here) 'Try to understand tat he has his diapers on since the day he was born until now, which was 2+years, and suddenly he doesn't have it on now... how will he feel! Imagine you not wearing your underpants!!!'

This really made me laughed and laughed so hard! It's very reasonable, so i juz keep repeating hubby's statement whenever i saw ahDen's fear of not having his diaper on! Actually i know tat my son is a very strong-willed person, tat is the better way of phrasing it; or better known to everyone else is the word STUBBORN! If he doesn't like sth, you really can't force him to do it your way! That is why a lot of ppl will comment tat Jayden has very bad discipline!

Thankfully in less than a week's time, he kind of accept the fact that he need not wear his diaper all the time. During tat first few weeks of training, we let him wear his diaper during his nap and bed time, or when we go out shopping or to places where we need to be for at least more than an hour. Now (in Feb), he definitely has improve his 'peeing' skills and he'll tell us if he wanna go 'pee-pee'! That's wat he'll say -- pee-pee!

Now he only wears his diapers during nap & bed time still, but when we go out shopping we can forget about his diaper! Some pretty funny things to jot down here during this period of trying to help him to get rid of his diaper habit :-

(1) There was once when we were at sunday school, and ahDen insisted of going back home because he wanted to pee. Without the potty, he juz cant pee. He's afraid of wetting the floor. He had his diaper on then, but he didn't wan to wet his diaper either. So in the end, thankfully there were buckets around! and so he pee-ed into one of the plastic hand scoop!

(2) Another time was when he pee-ed into the potty in our bathroom, then he point to his stream of urine while peeing, saying "Wao.... fountain!" =)) It really made me chuckled and laughed... while telling him, "no... tat's not a fountain!"

(3) ...seeing him trying to aim at the potty which was on the bathroom floor. He was half squatting down and making sure his 'little birdie' gets as close to the potty as possible! His facial reaction was really cute!

Of cuz there are still more stories to share, but at this point i can't really think of anything else cause ahDen had finished wid his afternoon nap. Time to pen off! "

Happy CNY 2010!

Jayden's mummy :- "We went back to Kuching for CNY on 10th Feb this year. This time we'll be flying wid Malaysia airlines and first time boarding through Terminal 1 KK.

Honestly i felt so lazy to update ahDen's blog and my own blog lately, due to ahDen being sick for so long and not really getting any better. When we went back to Kch, on 11th we brought him to see a Chinese physician. He was given some medicine considered as tonic to improve his lungs. On the 12th, hubby said to bring him to Kuching Specialist Hospital to see a paediatrician called Dr. Siew Hueh Fen. Not really putting on high hope, we went early tat morning, as early as 8+am!

Dr. Siew is a very nice doctor... no tension really as like meeting your 'discipline teacher'! I showed her my little booklet of ahDen's previous record of all the medicine he took. It's really a very good habit of jotting down all the medicine names and dosage, so to all mothers-to-be, if you happen to be reading my blog, do make it a practice to jot down all your child's medication record even if it's juz merely flu & cough!

Her first comment was 1st week of taking antibiotics and since it showed no improvement in the child, we should stop the antibiotics cause it means tat it have no effect on the child. But ahDen was taking the same antibiotics for 2weeks! Juz to cut things short, he was 'neb' 2 times tat morning.... with a difference of 5minutes in between. He was wailing and kicking and struggling, and it was really terrible but thankfully after being nebulized, he was so much better. The wheezing sound lightens, and he was breathing much easier then.

The most surprising thing was the BILL! With all the medicines given PLUS using the nebulizer twice, it costs us RM131.80. It was really so much more reasonable. When i realised tat the Flixotide and Ventolin evohaler wasn't prescribed, i went back to the doctor and asked for her prescription. It was totally different from Dr.Chan where she juz prescribed me with all the medicine, not considering or asking even if i still have any left. Totally a waste of money, and now i have tonnes of unfinished inhalers stacking up in my room here!

Another surprising thing is the charges for both the inhalers. Back at Dr.Chan's clinic, i remembered the Flixotide evohaler alone costs RM89. But tat day, for both the Flixotide and Ventolin evohaler it only costs me RM76.45! So much more extras for the overcharging doctor and yet my son didn't get any better!

We went back for a follow up on the 17th Feb, and truthfully the antibiotics prescribed this time really does work on Jayden. It's pretty obvious he is feeling so much better now. I dunno how relieved i felt, and hubby too.

From medical aspects, Kuching really do have better doctors than KK. No offence, but we have more medical centres and specialists in Kuching than in KK. Perhaps tat's why you'll meet some ridiculous paediatrics here. Of cuz, i don't mean all the paediatrics in KK are like that. I still like Dr. Terry and Dr. Liaw who are always more reasonable and to me, it's more professional!

Sigh! I juz hope ahDen will be healthy always and growing up fine in this year of the Tiger. "

ahDen's Don-ner-ner!

Jayden's mummy :- "Felt so lazy to update on how much we had spent on ahDen's medical bill at Dr. Chan. The last visit costs us another RM319. So in 3 weeks time, we had spent more than RM1k for his flu and cough only at Dr. Chan's clinic alone. Sigh!

Last nite we went for a walk at Wawasan Plaza since there's Parkson warehouse sale going on. When we reach Api-api Centre and after hubby parked the car, i heard ahDen talking. He was seated at the back seat and he said sth like 'I wanna go...' continued by 'Over there...' and finally he said 'Don-ner-ner'.

The final phrase of 'Don-ner-ner' made me realised wat his whole sentence meant. He was actually telling us tat he wanted to go to McDonald's! This naughty boy seems to start recognising some familiar places in KK. The funny thing was McDonald's was actually at the other end of our parking lot, totally not within our view but ahDen knew tat there's a McDonald's there alright.

When i told hubby tat he was telling us to bring him to McD, hubby asked him 'Where do you want to go?' Then again he replied 'Don-ner-ner' and he pointed to the direction of McD saying 'Over there...'
We both couldn't help laughing at him. Smart boy... knowing tat he can eat and play at McD. Hmmm... but we told him no, and tat we are going shopping and not to 'Don-ner-ner'! "

RM414!

Jayden's mummy :- "Today we went back for a follow-up session with Dr. Chan and the medical bill costs even more today. I thought after the week long of tight medication schedule, we could at least have a few days of proper rest finally.

The same medicine were given to Jayden again this week including the Ventolin evohaler and Flixotide evohaler since he is still wheezing. Poor boy! He still have to go on with his antibiotics. The probiotics Lacto GG were given to him too, and i finally saw the price today. It is sold at the price of RM4 per capsule. *_*"'

Today's additional medicine mainly focus on his constipation problem - the familiar Duphalac, Dulcolax & an additional nose spray called Nasonex. Let's just hope he'll be better before CNY. The poor parents are getting pretty tired and very much lack of rest! "

RM379!

Jayden's mummy :- "Today we finally decided to bring ahDen to see another child specialist since his cough and flu had gotten from bad to worse. After more than 6weeks, he hadn't got better and when the wheezing sound was even clearer now, we were really worried. Finally we went to Dr. Chan Yue Sun clinic. We heard from friends tat she's a very good child specialist.... and so we went this morning at 10am.

When we reached, the nurse told us the doctor was not there yet, and asked if we made any appointment. We said no, so she put us on appointment at 2pm. Around noon time, the nurse called me back and asked if we can go to the clinic then since the doctor is free then, and they planned to close early. *_* "'

Luckily hubby is free, so off we went. My first impression of the paediatrics is she's more like a stern school teacher than a child specialist. ;)) She told us to answer her question with a direct 'yes' or 'no' and no maybe. Very nervous parents but for the sake of our child, we must tolerate. Another time she gave us some options of which type of medication we wanted, and before we think it over she was saying 'Faster.. give me an answer and don't waste time!" Hahahaha.... really like school teacher!

The final thing was the bill. RM 379!!! Wah lau.... luckily we brought enough money. Really hope ahDen can get well soon. He is quite serious now cox of his prolonged sickness and the doc said he's likely to have asthma. Besides the costly bill, there's a tight schedule of medication tat we have to follow... even waking up at 3am! Sigh! Really get well soon please, my darling son!"

ahDen's jargon!

Jayden's mummy :- "Lately ahDen have his chain of very weird but really funny vocab. Hubby & I juz couldn't help giggling when we listen to him talking.... although we understand sometimes, but it juz sounded so funny! This is call ahDen's jargons.... at times when he wanna say a sentence, he juz purposely roll his tongue a few times making some funny noises then he'll insert one understandable word like 'car' to end his sentence!

He might be slow for speech at his age, but we juz never stop teaching and encouraging him. This is ahDen lists of ahDen-talk :-

(1) Tomato = Mo-ta-to
(2) Bellybutton = But-ton-ton
(3) Donald (as in donald duck) = Don-ner-ner
(4) vitamin = Vit-ta-ten

Still some of the wordings but i cant remember now. Partly cox i keep on giggling... will add it in when i can recall!"
